Review: Tune Hotel Danga Bay, Johor

We stayed at this hotel during our visit to Legoland Malaysia. After a tiring day from morning until dusk at the theme park, this hotel is an economical option to rest and refresh for the night. As the hotel's name suggest, it is located at Danga Bay, just a few kilometers from Legoland. Easily reached by car, but in our case we took a taxi from Legoland taxi bay to the hotel.

The hotel has more than 200 rooms in double, twin and quad configuration. Room rate is quite cheap, only RM67 per night. If include some add-ons such as TV and late check-out (because our return flight was at 5PM the following day, we decided to hole-up in the room for as long as we can before heading to the airport), it still cost less than RM100. Check-in was fast and efficient, we brought the printed confirmation slip and the staff immediately handed us a keycard and room number. Some facilities avalaible at the hotel, such as car parks, computers and internet, massage chair, convenience store, tour office, and a small restaurant operated by third party. There's shuttle service to Singapore too. Room's condition is predictable and standard for Tune Hotel's chain; small, standard wallpaper and decorations, comfortable bed, and clean toilet. No room amenity though, so please bring your own towel and toiletries, or buy the package from the hotel. Overall, this hotel is just what we need for a short stay.

Day trip: Penang to Johor for General Election

It's election season in Malaysia right now and flags are everywhere!

Don't get me wrong, I am not blogging about politics now. Just recording the hasty journey that I made because of it.

Today is Malaysian 13th General Election. As a good citizen I did my part and cast my vote. Although I've been working and living at the northern part of Malaysia for few years already, I am still a registered voter for my hometown; a small, laidback village located at the southern part of this country. Hence, this morning I took a single day hop from Penang to Johor, just to put my 'X' on the ballot papers.

Legoland Malaysia: (still) Playing Our Part

(Our legoland trip report, continued from my earlier post)
We had lunch at Pizza Mania Restaurant, located at the Imagination section. It was raining outside, so we took this opportunity to rest and regain our energy. We still have lots of ground to cover.

After meal, we headed to 4D Studio, located just next to Pizza Mania. It has different shows at different time, but all are about Lego characters and their adventures. The one that we watched was quite entertaining. Unlike Universal Studios Singapore, the seat does not move and fixed to the floor. Nevertheless, wind, water sprinkles and even foam were rained on us to give the 4D effects.
